Time Attack Mode
Beat the clock and set the fastest lap on any track.
Time Attack is a game mode in Redout where the player must beat a certain lap time. It is a single-player mode focused on speed and precision, challenging players to complete a track as quickly as possible. The mode is one of nine gamemodes featured in the game, alongside Pure Time Attack, which is identical but disables powerups. Success depends on mastering the track layout and optimizing ship performance through upgrades and powerups purchased with currency earned in career mode.

Lore & Background
In the world of Redout, the Solar Redout Racing League (SRRL) was formed after the ESA Vanguard, the first anti-gravity racing ship, was perfected and its specifications were released. By the 2560 season, the SRRL has tracks everywhere, from the reclaimed ruins of Cairo to the icy oceans of Europa, making it the most popular sport in the Solar System. Time Attack mode reflects the league's emphasis on pure speed and technical skill, where pilots push their ships to the limit without the interference of opponents. The mode strips away the chaos of multiplayer races, leaving only the pilot, the track, and the clock. It is a test of precision and consistency, requiring deep familiarity with each track's layout and the ship's handling characteristics, including strafing and pitching mechanics.
In Their Own Story
The countdown begins. The anti-gravity ship hums beneath you, magnets charged and ready. The track stretches ahead, a ribbon of neon and metal winding through the ruins of Earth or the frozen plains of Europa. There are no opponents to block your path, no powerups to save you. Just the timer ticking down and the need for speed. You accelerate, strafe through a chicane, pitch up on a steep incline to avoid blackout. Every millisecond counts. The finish line approaches, and you cross it, breathless, as the clock stops. The number on the screen is your new record—or a reminder of the work still to come.
Reader's Guide
In Time Attack mode, the player must complete a selected track faster than a target lap time. Unlike Race mode, there are no opponents; the only enemy is the clock. The mode is unlocked through progression in the campaign, as tracks and racing complexes are unlocked via progression. Players can use any ship they have purchased and upgraded with money earned in career mode, and they can equip active and passive powerups to further customize performance. Success requires mastering the track layout and using the ship's controls effectively: strafing allows for sharper turns without losing speed, while pitching upwards on an upwards slope counters blackouts and pitching downwards on a downwards slope counters redouts. The player can replay the track as many times as they wish to improve their time, and the best time is recorded. The mode is ideal for players who want to focus on pure racing technique without the distraction of AI opponents or powerup management.
